NESTA's office again played host to one of [re]design's alternative Christmas trees.

The Greenboard tree design does away with conventional material decorations and instead is made beautiful and festive through people drawing on it with chalk. It also creates a platform for sustainable thoughts and comments regarding the past or coming year to be posted and shared amongst the NESTA offices.

Christmas and the New Year is a great time to start making changes to the level of resources we consume.

During Christmas 2008 it is estimated that England's households will have created nearly three quarters of a million tonnes of extra waste (Source: Wrap - Waste and Resources Action Programme). By choosing items with less packaging, wasting less food and making decorations from recycled materials this figure could be greatly reduced.
